As we said goodbye to another of our greys yesterday, it caused me moments of thought about our greyhound breed. Even though the breed is one of the few large breeds that do not suffer from the debilitating hip displacia that other large breeds encounter, cancer is still the silent killer that tends to take the majority of our dogs, and of those two legged friends and family that we love the most. My mind tends to wonder at the possibilities of what could be if research were funded properly. Although the american cancer institute is continuing research into this dreaded desease, wouldn't it be wondeful if with the help of veteranary medicine we would find a cure. If all the money that is donated and spent to oppose our sport and wasted on politicians would instead be directed at finding a cure for this dreaded desease, all life on earth would be forever better.

Sorry for you loss. I hate Cancer and we lost our Lincoln to it and he was taken away from us too soon. He was only 5. I hope Dr. Couto at Ohio State who is working with this issue in greyhounds will find some cure. I have sent them donations and hope that my donation will continue to help Dr. Couto research this. I agree, all the monies that oppose greyhound racing went to fight this, we'd all be happy.
